GPS/RAIM Prediction

Satellite

A dedicated GPS prediction tool: SAT4Flight®

The expansion of RNP AR procedures in the world has brought the need for a Quovadis specific software, predicting the reception of the GPS signal for a given trajectory at a given time slot.

GPS Prediction helps preparing the flight plan for a flight containing RNP AR procedures for both departures and arrivals. It says whether the satellites constellation allows sufficient navigation precision (accuracy and integrity) to ensure flight procedures during the planned flight.

GPS prediction qualifies the GPS coverage along a given procedure within a given time slot. This prediction is based on the ALMANACS and takes into account the NANUs that indicate the functioning state of satellites. The GPS prediction tool allows checks of the GPS signal availability at departure, destination and alternate airport. This includes GPS integrity and accuracy forecasts, the systems uses state of the art algorithms and Includes Digital Terrain Model (DTM) of the procedure to be flown.

The computation of the shadowing potentials makes it possible to identify all the points of the landscape relief that create a shadow effect to the visibility of the GPS Satellites at a given point for a given time. This computation is produced with the altimetric data of the SRTM and is done along the trajectory (one point every 20 seconds).

The shadow effect areas are then defined from this set of penalizing points with a precision of 1° over 360° for each point of the trajectory.

Quovadis will issue a GPS Prediction report or issue a NOTAM via a web portal or via an e-mail on a daily basis and will include any back-up support associated.
